Being born a woman is an awful tragedy. Yes, my consuming desire to mingle with road crews, sailors and soldiers, bar room regulars—to be a part of a scene, anonymous, listening, recording —all is spoiled by the fact that I am a girl, a female always in danger of assault and battery. My consuming interest in men and their lives is often misconstrued as a desire to seduce them, or as an invitation to intimacy. Yet, God, I want to talk to everybody I can as deeply as I can. I want to be able to sleep in an open field, to travel west, to walk freely at night.

Save the life of a father! PLEASE reblog. »

aubreythezepeda:

So my good friend’s uncle (a father of six) is very, very ill right now. He has to be flown to Stanford to have the surgery that would save his life. He has a rare congenital defect in his brain, and the only neurosurgeon who can repair it is at Stanford. He is self-employed and has NO insurance, and so money is trying to be raised for the expensive surgery. He has six children ages 9-17, and he WILL DIE unless he gets the surgery he needs. Please donate anything if you can, or, failing that (because not everyone can donate), please at least reblog this so other people can see it. I don’t have very many followers so reblogging is really the only hope I have of making sure a lot of people see this. I know it won’t “fit in” with your blog, but please do this tiny thing to help save the life of a father of 6.

Reblogging again so more people get to see it, this is a matter of life and death, guys.
